"EDGBLACK - All For Your Knives -" is a brand that offers high-quality, distinctive whetstones and accessories that allow anyone to easily sharpen knives like a professional.
We interviewed Mr. Sakai, CEO of Sakai Promotion Support, about the reasons for building their e-commerce site, and their future initiatives and outlook.
Interview with Mr. Sakai
SOLSTAR (hereinafter referred to as S): Please tell us what prompted you to build an e-commerce site this time, or the background behind it.
Mr. Sakai: The impetus was your company's sales proposal. It came at a time when I was contemplating building an e-commerce site but hadn't taken the plunge yet, so it was a very good opportunity. As for the background, I had originally been operating an online shop on another e-commerce platform, but I felt it had limitations in terms of scalability. Considering transaction fees if sales were to increase in the future, I decided to migrate to Shopify.
S: What are your thoughts on using the Basic plan's construction service?
Mr. Sakai: I felt that the Basic plan was just right for a brand with a small number of products. We were able to build the site for domestic use using a free template, and you were able to create a high-quality e-commerce site while keeping costs down. I think it's a particularly suitable plan for newly launched brands. I didn't feel any disadvantages in particular.
S: How was the response from the director in charge?
Mr. Sakai: They explained everything very carefully and in detail, so I had no problems at all. They also researched and addressed specialized settings and unclear points, which was a great help.
S: How was the development process?
Mr. Sakai: The process was carried out via email. Since I had previously requested the launch of a Shopify site, we were able to proceed smoothly. However, for first-time users, filling in information in Excel and technical terminology might be a little difficult to understand. I think having templates for policy-related content, for example, would make it even smoother.
S: How was the schedule until delivery?
Mr. Sakai: The delivery was made in about two months, and there were no particular issues with the schedule.
S: Please tell us if you encountered any difficulties or have any suggestions for improvement regarding the service as a whole.
Mr. Sakai: If I had to pick something, it would be that the Excel work was a little difficult to understand. Other than that, there was nothing in particular.
S: Please tell us about your future activities.
Mr. Sakai: For the Edgeblack store, we plan to implement measures to increase sales. We also intend to focus on content creation, such as blog posts within the store, and strengthen our SEO efforts.
